Gaetan Caron is no stranger to the hot seat of Canada’s national energy regulator.
Before taking over the reins of the National Energy Board on Sept. 20, Charon was vice-chairman, rising to chairman and CEO after nearly 30 years as a staffer in the engineering department and then as a director.
Caron takes over the board at a time when it is faced with multibillion-dollar pipeline bitumen projects to the U.S. and while industry awaits a decision on the long-awaited Mackenzie Valley natural gas pipeline from the Arctic.
