Explosive device kills Canadian soldier

KANDAHAR AIRFIELD, Afghanistan – The 79th Canadian soldier to die in Afghanistan – a soldier only days away from returning to Canada – was killed by an improvised explosive device Sunday afternoon while taking part in a supply mission.

Trooper Michael Yuki Hayakaze, 25, was a member of the Lord Strathcona’s Horse (Royal Canadians), based out of Edmonton and was to have returned to Canada in days after completing a six-month tour of duty in Afghanistan.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Hillary Clinton and rival Barack Obama are running neck-and-neck in Ohio and Texas one day before their crucial Democratic presidential showdowns, according to a Reuters/C-SPAN/Houston Chronicle poll released on Monday.

Clinton, fighting to save her presidential bid after 11 straight wins by Obama, desperately needs victories in the big-state battles to keep her candidacy alive and face the Republican candidate in the November election.

What went wrong? I’ll tell you what went wrong: Microsoft execs – starting with Steve Ballmer – don’t care enough about their customers. Which is too bad for the thousands of smart, hard working ’softies who do.

I went through the Vista Capable lawsuit Exhibit A emails. Lots of warnings that Vista was a train wreck, that its requirements exceeded the market, that the continual changes and slips were killing OEMs and that many peripheral vendors had simply given up trying to stay in sync.
