Cogeco Cable bought MaXess Networx Monday night just as the Enwin subsidiary was stemming its financial bleeding.

Not If But When: Second U.S. Xbox 360 Price Drop

12 03 2008

A day after Microsoft dropped the price of the Xbox 360 in Europe, effectively making it the cheapest modern console on the continent (watch out Wii), questions loom if the company will follow suit on its home turf in America.

dBTechno Tuesday says that Microsoft is “getting ready” to slash the price of the Xbox 360 here in the U.S., citing undocumented “reports” (i.e., most likely rumors).

Apple SDK Documentation Reveals Ban on Multi-tasking

12 03 2008

Last week, Apple announced some highly anticipated updates for the iPhone. First up were a slew of features aimed at making the iPhone more “up to snuff” with corporate customers. Some of these features include push email support, WPA2/802.11x and support for Microsoft Exchange.

The other big news to come out of the Apple camp was the announcement of the iPhone SDK. With the SDK, developers can develop third-party applications for the iPhone and publish them to the iTunes App Store for $99. Developers that choose to charge for their apps will see 30% of their profits go to Apple while those who provide their apps for free will see no additional fees.

Emmy Up and Moves

Emmy is headed downtown.

The Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has inked a 10-year deal with a Los Angeles developer to move its star-studded kudosfest—the small screen’s biggest night—to the recently opened 7,100 -seat Nokia Theatre, starting with the 60th Annual Emmy Awards on Sept. 21.

For the last 10 years (minus 2001, when two postponements forced the ceremony to Century City), the red-carpet madness has taken place at the landmark Shrine Auditorium, located across the street from the University of Southern California campus, several miles south of Emmy’s new home.
