Toronto Transit Commission workers voted overwhelmingly yesterday to reject a contract offer, less than three weeks before reaching a legal strike position.
Votes cast were 99.2 per cent against the offer with just over 6,000 of its 8,000 members voting, union officials said.
Bob Kinnear, president of the TTC workers’ union, and other union leaders had recommended that workers reject the offer due to concessions on benefits.

HOUSTON (Reuters) – Space shuttle Endeavour linked up with the International Space Station more than 200 miles above Earth on Wednesday on a mission to deliver a Japanese laboratory.
The docking, which took place high above Singapore, capped a two-day voyage that began with Endeavour’s liftoff from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida early on Tuesday.
“Endeavour arriving,” space station commander Peggy Whitson called out as the shuttle slipped onto a station berthing port.
A tight-knit Quebec community is struggling to deal with the loss of three women who were killed after the roof of their warehouse suddenly collapsed.
Two of the victims were related, but they have not been identified. They had been trapped under the wreckage for more than four hours Wednesday.
Richard Dubois was part of the team who found the women. He was also their close friend.
