Brodeur up for his fourth Vezina

22 04 2008

Martin Brodeur is eyeing his fourth career Vezina Trophy and while he doesn’t have Roberto Luongo to worry about this year, Evgeni Nabokov is a serious threat.

The NHL announced the Vezina Trophy nominees yesterday and Brodeur was again among the finalists for goaltender of the year. The New Jersey Devils star was joined for the first time by Nabokov of the San Jose Sharks and for the third consecutive season by Henrik Lundqvist of the New York Rangers.

NIEDERMAYER WANTS CASH

TORONTO — Scott Niedermayer’s season is over but just how much he will earn in salary remains in question.

The Anaheim Ducks star defenceman already lost about $2-million US in wages from his $6.75-million salary for missing the first two months of the season. But in addition, as revealed by the New York Post over the weekend, Niedermayer’s salary was also reduced by $500,000 for missing training camp.
